El Morro Valley Fire District #21
|Chief Kenneth A.
|El Morrow Valley
Kenneth A. Homer was elected Chief of the El Morro Valley V.F.D. on July 23rd, 2015. He has lived for the past 20 years in the El Morro Valley Subdivision, and owned the property since 1990.
During the past 20 years there have been 5 fires on the subdivision, and even without the benefit of a Fire Department, Chief Homer responded to each and every one of those incidents.
He has been instrumental in helping the County and the community of the El Morro Valley at large to set up this newest fire department. This is the first department that has been established in Cibola County during the past 25 years. The community has been long in need of it.
Chief was born and raised in the Eugene, Oregon area. He served for 20 years in the United States Air Force and is retired. He is a Viet Nam Veteran having served in country in 1969 as a Telephone Installer/Repair Technician. He later switched career fields to Airborne Video Systems. He retired from the Air Force in 1990. Before permanently retiring in 2012, Chief worked for the State of New Mexico at the Port of Entry in Gallup for the New Mexico Motor Transportation Division.
The El Morro Valley Volunteer Fire District has been coming “on-line” since September 23, 2015, when the Cibola County Commission put forth the resolution to establish the El Morro Valley Fire and EMS District.
