The New Mexico Legislature passed HB Bill 407 that required changes to the County Commission Districts statewide. The Secretary of State’s office sent out a press release regarding these changes. However, a writ has been filed with the New Mexico Supreme Court to determine the constitutionality of the bill.
Cibola County Attorneys have stated that the final decision on the changes required by the bill may not be determined until late September.
Cibola County Commission District boundaries will not change, but renumbering may occur. We will wait for the final decision before making any corrections or changes.
