About The Emergency Manager/Fire Marshal


Dustin Middleton was raised in Arizona and graduated from Casa Grande Union High School, with both parents being Arizona State Troopers. Emergency Services being a career he would always want to pursue. Shortly after proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army, Dustin started his career as a Volunteer Firefighter in Eager, Arizona. He then moved to Sanders, AZ where he worked for the Arizona Office of Tourism as a travel counselor. During this time Dustin also volunteered with Puerco Valley Fire/EMS District where he had obtained his National Registry EMT as well as his AZ. State certified EMT within his first year. As the state began its budget cuts, Dustin’s position with AOT was also cut, despite the loss, Dustin was hired on full time with Puerco Valley Fire/EMS District. In the years to follow Dustin had received many certifications to include his IFCAC Certified Firefighter I-II, and in early 2004 was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and proudly worked for 13 years. In the last 6 years working with Puerco Valley Fire/EMS District, Dustin also volunteered with the Arizona Rangers which is a Law Enforcement Auxiliary that is governed and supported by the Governor to support any law enforcement. Dustin left Puerco Valley Fire in 2012 and began a career with Kurtz Industrial Fire Services, stationed at Western Refining in Jamestown, NM where he worked as a Captain and obtained his Certified Industrial Firefighter, Haz-Mat Technician, and Rope Rescue/Confined Space Technician. In that time he had moved his family to Grants, NM which has been a dream spot to call home as he has always had family living here. After moving to Grants, Dustin felt the need to give to the community, so he began volunteering with Lobo Canyon Fire District, as the Assistant Chief, and continues to volunteer with the Cibola County Sheriff’s Office Posse as a Special Deputy. In September 2015, Dustin began working for Cibola County as the Emergency Manager/ County Fire Marshal, with all of his experience, has found his place. Dustin has obtained his professional development series course through FEMA’s EMI and is currently working on his Advanced Professional certification for Emergency Managers, as well as attending NM Edge program to achieve his Certified Public Manager striving to become a better manager and a better leader.
